Berlin Trip
Upper College students visited Berlin over the February half term, staying in a city centre hostel for a 4-day trip.
There was an extensive programme of visits: The big sights of the Reichstag; Brandenburg Gate; Memorial Church and the Holocaust memorial were seen ... but the visit that captivated most was the afternoon at the East German Secret Police Interrogation Centre, where cells, 'interview' rooms and the interrogation methods were excellent - displayed by a local guide.
On top of this, we were guests of a grammar school in Spandau and chatted with the students; we ascended the 365 meter TV tower in East Berlin; shopped in the famous Ka De We and KuDamm; walked the entire Unter den Linden Avenue; visited a very special new Hitler exhibition in the Historical Museum and much, much more.
The group was excellent, with the students taking a lively interest in all that we saw.
