Collingwood Success at Cross Country

On Saturday 17 January seven students from Collingwood represented the North West Surrey team at the Surrey Schools Cross Country Championships.

On Saturday 17 January seven students from Collingwood represented the North West Surrey team at the Surrey Schools Cross Country Championships.  The students who represented the College were running varying distances from 2.6 km up to 5.9 km.

As anyone will know, running during January is difficult enough but to participate in a cross country event against all the best runners in Surrey on a cold, frosty January morning takes a lot of courage and determination.

Giles Rhoden 7J helped the Year 7 team to a 5th place finish.  Kathryn Beckett 8D and Orla McEvilly 8C helped the Years 8/9 girls to an 8th place finish overall.  Luke Mann 8C was part of an exceptional Year 8 boys team who won the team event overall.  Sammy Bonny 10E and Megan Raby 10A produced excellent runs to help the Years 10/11 girls team to a 3rd place finish.  Lastly Harry Grace 11A produced an excellent run to help the Years 10/11 boys to an overall 1st place finish.

Congratulations to all of our athletes who took part and the very best of luck to the students who have been selected to represent the County at the next stage.  The College is very proud of you.
