On Thursday 6 March the whole school celebrated World Book Day by taking part in DEAR (Drop Everything And Read) from 9.05am to 9.25am.

It was an amazing opportunity for us all to take 20 minutes out from our day and just enjoy reading!

Throughout the day a book swap took place in the library where students and staff had the opportunity to exchange books or purchase them for 20p a book.

121 books were sold and 81 books were exchanged.

All money raised and any books left over will be given to the charity 'Promoting Global Learning' who will be sending them out to children in Ghana.  Promoting Global Learning is a newly-formed, non-profit-making charity and it aims to provide much-needed books and educational resources to schools in Ghana to enhance the education of children.  We are very fortunate in this country to have well-stocked, stimulating schools but there are very many schools in Africa in a much less-fortunate position.

Many thanks to all students and staff for their support.
