Cyberbullying 'on rise' – ChildLine - Following this headline in the news we were once again contacted by the Channel 5 News team asking if they could interview some of our students for a follow-up report.

Presenter Cathy Jones met with and interviewed nine of our students from Years 7–10 and was, once again, moved by the quality and depth of their responses.

This is the third time that we have been involved with this news team and the number of individual students who have had this experience is obviously growing.  The students are put at ease by the presenter who explains that whilst the process of interviewing them is fairly lengthy, by the time the final piece is transmitted it will only get a few minutes air time!  Some of the students may not make the final cut but the whole experience is definitely positive and gives them an insight into the making of news stories as well as having an audience to air their views.

The very nature of a news item requires an instant response and identifying appropriate students, establishing whether or not they wish to be involved and contacting parents for permission is all rather hurried!  As ever, both students and parents were very supportive.

Cathy Jones is always grateful that we are able to respond and is always impressed with the maturity of the students and how well they are able to articulate their feelings.  I am confident that they will continue to turn to Collingwood when they need to work with young people.  I fully believe that this is an excellent experience for those involved.
