Year 7 students taste a 'Lille' bit of France

On Collingwood’s Enterprise Days, Thursday 28 and Friday 29 November, the Communications Faculty took Year 7 students to the Christmas market in Lille, northern France.

After a very early start and a smooth journey on the coach and in the Channel Tunnel, we arrived in Lille late morning.  Everybody was very excited to be there and for many of our students, it was the first time they had been abroad.

We then made our way to the Christmas market where students had some free time to get some lunch, browse the different stalls, complete their booklet and do a spot of Christmas shopping.

The big attraction at the market was the Ferris wheel which was very popular with students and staff alike.

At around 3.00pm we got back on the coach and made our way to la Cité de l'Europe for our tea and, of course, some more shopping.

We then said au revoir France and made our way back home.  It was a great trip enjoyed by all!

Here are a few quotes from our Year 7 students:

" I ate a crêpe that I saw being made.  I went on a huge ferris wheel and screamed all the way up!"  Darcy Brown  7H

"I spoke to French people using what I had learnt in lessons."  Kerri O'Connell 7H

"The experience of going to Lille was so fun."  Maddie Vincent-Shipton 7G
