Miss Parker is World Champion at The World Games 2013
Miss Parker (PE teacher here at Collingwood) and Kat Driscoll bring home the Gold medal for Synchronised Trampolining from Colombian World Games!
Miss Parker (PE teacher here at Collingwood) and her Synchronised Trampolining partner, Kat Driscoll, are bringing home the Gold medal for Synchronised Trampolining from The World Games (25 July to 4 August 2013) out in Colombia!
Miss Parker says: "It's an absolutely amazing feeling especially as this is the next biggest event to the Olympics for the disciplines that are not part of it. We came joint 1st with the Chinese pair after lying 3rd from the Preliminaries. After a 5 hour wait from Preliminaries and competing at 9.00pm (3.00am in the UK) we competed in the finals in which the scores start from zero so it's anyone's game. The Chinese were up first as they (unusually) failed one of their routines in the Preliminaries. They completed and posted a massive score which we knew would be hard to beat. When it was our turn to go it was extremely nerve- racking in front of a massive cheering crowd, mainly of local Colombians. We held it together and completed our best ever routine matching the Chinese score!
It was then a waiting game watching the Russians fail their routine and the Ukrainian's complete a good, but not good enough, routine - meaning we were joint Champions! It has to be one of my best and proudest moments standing on that podium and listening to the National Anthem with the GB flag being raised."
Many congratulations to Miss Parker and Kat Driscoll for this amazing achievement.
