Activities Galore on Enterprise Days
Collingwood students enjoyed a vast range of activities on our November Enterprise Days.
It was Enterprise Days with a change this November, with the events taking place on Friday/Monday rather than Thursday/Friday. Also, there were relatively few trips offsite apart from all Year 8s going to Neasden Temple, all Year 7s en masse to Harry Potter World and Year 12s making an important exploratory visit to Portsmouth University.
So the hub of Enterprise Days was at College, and the College was an extremely lively place!
The Year 7 Young Citizen activity saw a range of events – from a compelling drama by a visiting theatre group, and discussion, to workshops on Fire, Police and First Aid services, it was a real contribution to our Wellbeing programme.
Year 8, when not at Neasden, enjoyed the many facets of Forensic Science, while Year 9s over two days had a tremendous variety of experiences from the CAPA and Technology faculties: making cupcakes, designing clothes from newspaper, taking the ‘eggdrop’ challenge, samba dancing, creating headdresses, samba drumming, electronic rhythms and Media experiences.
Year 10s had an equally exciting couple of days: in Maths it was Coding, exploring Morse, Semaphore, Pigpen, crosswords, and finally a College Treasure Hunt. From the TVIBE Faculty, a group brought in a huge range of active, practical puzzles to challenge students’ Problem Solving capabilities.
With Year 13 completing a Wellbeing Day, mirroring several years on some of the thought processes of the Year 7 activity, Year 11 taking their Mock GCSE exams, there certainly was a packed programme.
With many thanks to activity organisers and all supporting staff, this was a particularly challenging, thought-provoking, active and fun set of experiences for Collingwood students. There were indeed a lot of smiles during this out-of-classroom learning.
