Collingwood Students Celebrate Success
Collingwood students were celebrating again as 55% of all entries were awarded top grades in A level and BTEC qualifications.
Co-Principals, Karen Griffiths and Eden Tanner were especially pleased with the Further Maths, Drama, Film Studies and English Literature results which were particularly strong with over 85% of grades at A*-B. In addition, the BTEC results were exceptional with 90% of grades at Distinction* or Distinction.
"We want to congratulate all those students who are celebrating these results and wish everyone success in their university course, college course or apprenticeship. We know our students have worked incredibly hard to achieve these results and they represent two years of commitment and determination with the highest level of support and encouragement from staff and parents."
Steve Barker, Chair of Governors added "On behalf of the entire Governing Body of Collingwood College, I would like to congratulate our students on their impressive A Level and BTEC achievements and of course to recognise the excellent quality of teaching and support consistently provided by our dedicated staff. The increase in the % of students achieving an A* or A is a testament to the hard work and commitment that Collingwood students and staff show and I am delighted to hear that 100% of those students applying have secured a university place."
At A level, the pass rate was 98% and 75% of grades were A*-C. More than 1 in 5 grades (22%) were awarded A*/A and 6% were awarded A*!
Of the cohort of 114 students, just over 70 students already know they have been accepted into their university or College course and 83% of those students have received their first offer.
There were a number of noteworthy performances from individual students with a significant number attaining straight A*/A grades with students gaining places at Cambridge and other prestigious universities. Below we highlight the achievement of a selection of our Year 13 students.
