Performing Arts
Performing Arts plays a vibrant and inclusive role in life at Collingwood, offering students a wide range of opportunities to express themselves creatively through dance, drama and music. Whether performing on stage, working behind the scenes, or simply exploring a new interest, students are encouraged to develop their confidence, creativity and collaboration skills. Performing Arts activities at the College are not only a source of enjoyment and self-expression, but also a powerful way for students to connect with others, celebrate their individuality and contribute to the wider school community.
Opportunities for everyone
We believe that every student should have the chance to experience the joy of performing, so we offer a varied and welcoming programme of extra-curricular activities throughout the week. From dance clubs and drama rehearsals to music ensembles and choir, there’s something for everyone - regardless of experience or ability. These opportunities help students build friendships, discover new passions and grow in confidence in a supportive environment.
Showcasing talent
Performance is a key part of the Collingwood experience. Each year, students take part in a wide range of events that celebrate their creativity and hard work. These include our much-anticipated whole-college musical, as well as smaller productions tailored to different key stages. Seasonal showcases, open mic nights and celebration evenings provide regular opportunities for students to perform in front of peers, families and the wider community, creating lasting memories and a strong sense of achievement.
A musical community
Music is a cornerstone of our Performing Arts provision. Whether students are singing in the choir, playing in a band, or performing solo, they are encouraged to explore their musical interests and develop their skills. Our inclusive approach means that all students are welcome to take part, regardless of their musical background. Events such as the Carol Concert, Candlelight Soirée and various open mic nights bring the school community together and highlight the diverse talents of our students.
Enriching experiences
Beyond the classroom and the stage, students benefit from a wide range of enrichment opportunities that broaden their understanding of the arts. Regular theatre trips allow students to experience professional performances and gain inspiration from the wider world of performing arts. These experiences not only enhance students’ learning but also deepen their appreciation for the cultural and creative industries.
