Principal's welcome

It is a real pleasure to welcome you to Collingwood College. We are a high-performing, inclusive and forward-thinking community, committed to nurturing responsible, aspirational, independent and well-rounded young people. At the heart of everything we do are our students – their development, wellbeing and success are our top priorities.
We believe that by actively listening to our students and involving them in shaping their educational experience – alongside staff and governors – they become empowered contributors to our culture of continuous improvement.
At Collingwood, we offer a flexible and stimulating curriculum that supports academic excellence while promoting personal growth. Our students benefit from a wide range of leadership opportunities, enrichment programmes, and extracurricular activities that inspire, challenge and engage.
Our most recent Ofsted inspection (April 2026) recognised that the College is on a trajectory of improvement, where "pupils are proud to attend Collingwood College". This reflects our unwavering commitment to excellence and our ambition to be the first-choice College for families in our community.
Academic outcomes at both pre- and post-16 levels are consistently strong. We are thrilled that our 2026 cohort have broken records at GCSE with the College headline attainment figures that were above the national average. Our Attainment 8 (A8) figure was a 5, meaning the average grade for our students across their 8 GCSE subjects was a Grade 5! This success is a testament to the dedication of our students and the exceptional support provided by our teaching and pastoral teams.
There are countless reasons why I am proud to lead Collingwood College. I warmly invite you to visit us and experience first-hand the energy, ambition and care that define our community.
Miss Karen Watling
Principal
Behaviour across the College was praised with the College described as "a calm and purposeful learning environment" where "in lessons, pupils produce work of a high quality". The "positive relationships between staff and pupils underpin the effective behaviour systems, this means low level disruption is rare".
