A Level Results

We are very pleased to report some outstanding achievements by our students in their A level and BTEC qualifications this summer.

We are very pleased to report some outstanding achievements by our students in their A level and BTEC qualifications this summer. In terms of the top grades at A level, students achieved 59% A* to B, 57% BTEC Distinction* to Distinction and overall, 59% of year 13 students achieved the top grades.

This year, following the cancellation of exams, grades were awarded through a process of teacher assessed grades, against a national standard and approved and awarded by the exam boards. The government is not publishing performance data for any schools or colleges this year due to the varying impact of the pandemic.

We are delighted that following the rigorous external scrutiny from the examination boards that they confirmed that our procedures and processes for the awarding of Teacher Assessed Grades this summer had been implemented in a fair, robust consistent fashion in line with our Centre Policy to ensure that our students received the outcomes that they fully deserved.

Our students have shown great resilience, determination and maturity throughout this extraordinary year and produced some excellent individual and College results. Our students have had to overcome circumstances created by the pandemic and the subsequent lockdown as well as the need to master remote learning. In many cases they have experienced serious covid-related illness of themselves and/or family and have had sustained periods of self-isolation. All these factors make their success even more remarkable.

At post-16 nearly all students have already received a university offer and we are confident that all students who wish to go on to further education, will receive an offer through clearing.

Eden Tanner, Principal, said ‘I know that everyone has worked incredibly hard to achieve these results in exceptionally challenging circumstances. I want to congratulate all our students on their successes. This year we have seen another excellent performance with so many students achieving well across a wide range of subjects. I also want to acknowledge the excellent teaching and pastoral care provided by our dedicated staff, who have had to deal with the exceptional pressures associated with calculating Teacher Assessed Grades, as well as the encouragement and support of parents.’

Congratulations to our students who have worked incredibly hard to achieve these results!
