Pastoral care
Students thrive when they feel safe, supported, and known as individuals. Our pastoral care system is designed to provide every student with the guidance, encouragement, and structure they need to succeed both academically and personally.
A strong foundation
From the moment students join us in Year 7, they become part of a form group that offers daily continuity and a sense of belonging. Each form is led by a dedicated tutor who gets to know their students well and serves as a consistent point of contact throughout the school year.
Dedicated year group teams
Every year group is supported by a specialist pastoral team, including a year manager who works with the same cohort from Year 7 through to Year 11. This continuity allows for strong relationships to develop and ensures that students receive tailored support as they grow and progress through the school.
Leadership and oversight
Each key stage is overseen by a progress leader, who monitors academic progress and works closely with staff and families to maintain high standards of behaviour and engagement. In addition, every year group has a member of the senior leadership team assigned to them, providing strategic oversight and ensuring that pastoral care remains a central focus of school life.
Personalised support
Students also benefit from the expertise of our dedicated student support team, who provide targeted assistance with emotional wellbeing, mental health, and any barriers to learning. Working closely with pastoral staff, they ensure that every student has access to the right support at the right time.
A whole-school commitment
Pastoral care at Collingwood is not the responsibility of one team - it’s a whole-school commitment. From classroom teachers to senior leaders, every member of staff plays a role in creating a nurturing environment where students feel respected, listened to, and empowered to reach their potential.
