Special Educational Needs

We are proud to be a community where every student is valued, supported, and encouraged to achieve their full potential. We understand that some students may face additional challenges in their learning journey, and we are committed to providing the right support, at the right time, in the right way.

Our approach to SEND is rooted in understanding, collaboration, and high expectations. We provide tailored support for a wide range of needs, including:

  • Communication and interaction (e.g. autism, speech and language difficulties)
  • Cognition and learning (e.g. dyslexia, dyspraxia)
  • Social, emotional and mental health (e.g. ADHD, anxiety)
  • Sensory and physical needs (e.g. visual or hearing impairments, epilepsy)

Support is delivered through a combination of high-quality teaching, targeted interventions, and personalised strategies. This includes:

  • Quality First Teaching and adaptive classroom strategies
  • One-to-one and small group interventions led by trained staff
  • Access to assistive technology and specialist equipment
  • In-class support from Learning Support Assistants and Higher Level Teaching Assistants
  • Specialist programmes such as the ASPIRE curriculum for high-need students in Years 7 and 8
  • Emotional and social development support through our ELSA, Mental Health Support Team, and external partners

We work closely with students, families, and external professionals to ensure that every young person receives the support they need to thrive - academically, socially, and emotionally. Our SEND team includes experienced and highly qualified staff, and we regularly review and adapt our provision to ensure it remains effective and inclusive.

Students and parents are actively involved in shaping support plans, and we place great value on student voice and family partnership. Whether through one-page profiles, SEND arrangement documents, or regular reviews, we ensure that each student’s needs, strengths, and aspirations are at the heart of their education.
