Year 9 Footballers March on with 5-2 Victory

The Year 9 football team continued their fine form from the Madrid Football Tour over half-term to progress into the 3rd round of the Surrey County Cup.

On Tuesday 1 November we entertained St Andrews School from Leatherhead.  The boys took a little while to adjust back to playing on grass pitches after the nice lush 4g pitches of Madrid but soon started to find their rhythm.  The back four looked solid with debutant Callum Gunn fitting in nicely.  The boys started to find their passing game and soon enough we took the lead with a good finish from Jakob Carl.  Just before half time we made it 2-0 with a well taken goal by Kyle Odendaal after some excellent build up play.

The second half began and our boys continued to control the game.  We soon managed to score three more goals from Jakob Carl (2) and Jonathan Marsh.  Late on, St Andrews rallied with two goals but the win never looked in doubt.

We move onto next week now in the National Cup with a 3rd round game against St Pauls, Sunbury.

Team: Jacob Cowler, Cameron San Emeterio, Joe Terry, Callum Gunn, Alex Emery, Stanley Grosch, Oli Ewing ©, Josh Ford, Charlie Hawes, Kyle Odendaal, Jakob Carl, Dan Simmonds, Lewis Collin, Matthew Barnett, Jonathan Marsh and Sean Cullen.

Man of the Match: Alex Emery – another solid display at the back.
