Year 9 Netball Team Compete in County Finals

Second place for our girls in county netball finals at SJB!

On Tuesday 20 March the Year 9 netball team went to SJB to compete in the Schools County Finals.

The team consisted of Jasmine Akbar-Phillips, Katie Dimmock, Katie Wright, Imogen Williams, Becky Stainforth, Izzy Cunningham, Tayler Staples and Elizabeth Walker.  After coming second in their previous tournament, where they won 7 out of 8 games, they were excited for this opportunity.

Due to their second place, they were entered into Pool B, where they won 3 out of 3 games (Blenheim: 2-1, Rodborough: 4-2 and George Abbot: 7-4). As the games were only four minute halves the girls worked very hard to score as many goals as possible and keep possession of the ball.  Next, they went into the semi-finals against Howard of Effingham, where they played a very strong game, worked well together and won 4-1.  This made them finalists!  To finish, they had to play Gordon’s School in a difficult game for 1st place.  Sadly, they were unable to beat Gordon’s. However they tried their best and were able to defend a few shots which prevented them from taking a huge lead.  They were very happy to come away with 2nd place in the County Finals.
