2024 results

The achievements of students in 2024 reflect the strength of our teaching, the ambition of our learners, and the personalised support that underpins every student’s journey. With a broad curriculum and a strong focus on progression, we are proud to see so many students achieving their goals.

Academic excellence across A-levels

This year, nearly half of all A-level grades awarded were at A*, A or B, with 22% at the very highest levels of A* or A. These results span a wide range of subjects - from English Literature and History to Psychology, Geography, and the Sciences - demonstrating the depth and breadth of our academic offer.

Our overall pass rate of 99% is a testament to the hard work of students and staff alike, and reflects the inclusive, aspirational ethos that defines our Sixth Form.

Vocational pathways with impact

Alongside A-levels, many students choose to study vocational qualifications such as BTECs and Cambridge Technicals. These courses offer a practical, career-focused route to success - and our students excel.

In 2024, nearly half of all BTEC Extended Certificate grades were at Distinction* or Distinction, with strong performances in Business, Media, IT, and Sport. These qualifications are highly valued by employers and universities alike, and many of our students progress to competitive apprenticeships or degree programmes in related fields.

STEM strength and specialism

STEM subjects remain a particular strength at Collingwood. In Further Mathematics, every student achieved an A* or A - an exceptional result that reflects both talent and tenacity. Mathematics also saw a high proportion of top grades, and students in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics performed strongly, with many going on to study science, engineering, or medicine at university.

Our commitment to STEM is reflected not only in results, but in the opportunities we provide - from specialist teaching and enrichment activities to tailored careers advice and university preparation.

Destinations that inspire

We are proud that every student who applied to university in 2024 secured a place, including many at Russell Group institutions. Others have chosen high-level apprenticeships or direct employment, supported by our expert careers team and a programme of guidance that begins early and continues throughout Sixth Form.
